    Happy New Year!

    I need to come up with a plan for January. Am participating in another challenge that ends Valentine's Day-ish. The "standard" challenge is six pounds in six weeks. I regained about that much over the holidays, so I am back at 150#. I have had trouble getting below 145# for several years. But now I am going to do it!

    I have decided this year my goal is going to be "I will put on weight in 2011"

    Why you ask....


    Last year my goal was to lose weight and I gained.....so...

    If I lose weight then it is good for my health. If I gain weight then I have accomplished my goal.

    Actually I am trying some reverse psychology on myself.

    I've been ignoring the need to do much about this...but it's time to get myself re-motivated.

    The kitchen's been cleared out, for the most part, so that much is done. Now it's a matter of re-stocking with the proper food and getting myself back on the workout wagon.

    My goal for this year is to be ready to test for Provo Black Belt--and there is a level of fitness that needs to go with that.

    First short term goal: Drop 10 pounds by January 20. (It sounds ridiculous, but I drop so much water when I give up refined carbs that this number is ridiculously simple to pull off--but only if I eat properly.)

    Yesterday was a write off. I did well in the morning and then ate toast all afternoon. Hormones are not cooperative at the moment, but still, there has to be a good way to stave off the mid-afternoon collapse.

    Hi everyone!

    LL, I have the same problem, only mine
    is getting below 200 *sigh* I am also
    going to do it this year.

    So far, I am down 1.2 pounds since the official
    Jan weigh-in of 221.6 .. todays weight 220.4.

    Gout is back, as a response to my new daily med
    to control it LOL Hopefully it will be a short run.
    I did my stationary bike because of it, 10 min then
    5 min and several weight exercises .. ball crunches,
    wall push-ups, shoulder presses, and side bends.

    My goal is 40 pounds down by 31 Dec 2011.

    I hate those "set points," EmilyD!

    I am really puffy... haven't kept track of my monthly cycle, but I'm hoping that's the culprit...

    puffyness/water retention went away... don't know why...

    weight is back up... am considering fasting today...

    I've been re-motivated to get moving--yesterday was quite successful, with no real difficulty giving up the refined carbs.

    I'm still hopeful that I can make it to 10 pounds down by the 20th.

    The weight gain last week scared me into getting back on track. Next weekend I am going to a conference, so it will be challenging to eat on plan. DM is going too, so hopefully we can support each other.

    Will be joining you for Feb.


    I joined a 2 month "battle" team
    I plan to make an intense effort to lose
    down to 199 in that time period. That
    is half my year's goal (180 by 31 Dec 2011)


    What I didn't do in 2010:
    1. Track my food consistently
    2. Exercise daily consistently
    3. Made too many excuses and not enough action

    Why I joined Battle #11:
    1. Because I am tired of not losing weight
    2. I am tired of not exercising regularly
    3. Because I need SERIOUS motivation!
    4. Because I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!

    What else besides losing pounds and inches
    am I going to accomplish during the battle?
    1. I am going to track more consistently
    2. I am going to exercise more consistently
    3. I am finally going to do my Spark collage

    Oh my goodness, I ate so much on my trip! I have regained 10 lbs (from my lowest). Major bummer. But I need to get right back in the saddle.

    I am retaining water--am very puffy. My foot is not doing well, so I probably shouldn't walk. However, I got a new big yoga ball and a new DVD with Pilates exercises for the shoulder girdle. So I have some new ways to exercise.

    We stopped at the store on the way home from the airport last night and I bought lots of veggies. When I came home I washed and packed veggies for juicing. So I need to do that today. Maybe in lieu of dinner, as I have had a lot of carbs for breakfast and lunch.

    I will be increasing my sleep med. I think that might have a temporary appetite suppressing side effect, which would be nice.

    The warm weather in Florida got me in the mood for spring. It snowed in ATL last night, but at least its slowly getting lighter. That will make it easier to exercise.

    The swelling from the water retention has finally gone down. I think my massage therapy yesterday must have helped. She worked on my foot some. We are hoping that we can get it to the point where I can avoid surgery.

    I didn't weigh in this morning. I couldn't face it. Yesterday I made my lunch, but I was hungry at dinner time so went to Wendy's and got chicken nuggets & fries. The only good thing was I logged everything, so saw just how many calories I had.

    Then I had ice cream... and a midnight snack of cookies. Logged the ice cream, need to log the cookies. I need to come up with a strategy for the late night munchies.

    I took my sleep med last night at 7:00pm, and went to bed at 10:00 pm or so... but then I got back up at midnight for two hours. I could not get up this morning--had a meeting and an appt. The med seems to suppress the responsible part of me.

    Woke up at noon, but could not deal with anything, not even taking my meds. went back to bed and slept until 2:00pm, when DH came to bed. He helped me fill my med minder and take my am meds. My back hurt, so could not exercise, and I was too fuzzy to meditate. I did work on positive self talk.

    I realized that I need to come up with a wake-up routine for groggy mornings.

    My mood is pretty good, though, and I'm hoping to have a productive day with some art thrown in.
