Emily D, this is what happens when I try to accomplish something while trying to get two boys to take meds/showers/brush teeth and dogs wrestling in the family room....

Perhaps my resolution should be "one thing at a time!"

Pasting the resolution I was supposed to post in this thread actually IN this thread.

The Year of the Good Habit

I have a lot of ideas for my New Year's Resolutions, but the crux of it is this:

I have a number of very bad habits, and I also have areas where I simply lack *good* habits.

My resolution for 2010 is to begin to make small changes that lead me toward good habits in many different areas of my life.

I'm adding a "steps to good habits" at the top of my daily list to help keep me accountable for daily improvement.

Anyone else got a resolution to share?

Just one: to get over my perfectionism ( can't have everything just like I want it all at once.)

The days between Christmas and New Years I had a sort of Osoji of the mental sort. Yes, the shelves in the fridge are clean and I have an abundance of rags and empty cleaning bottles, but I also had to stand back and take a look at the past year- really a past five years of where I had been, what I had written and what things I need to carry on into the New Year.

CLYC hasn't ever really left the computer area, except to go to a shelf in my closet that stores my reference material. It stands next to "The Tao of Writing", yet another Thesaurus. " How to Cook Your Life"( not the cooking one) and " Eyes like Butterflies".

But with any self help book it doesn't deal with some of the baggage each of us carry along with us nor talk about how to dispose of the emotions that come along with it.

So like Zip- I am going to tackle the good habits and along with it I am going to try to posting here to give myself some sense of accountability among people who understand where all that baggage came from .

I think it is part of the problem that I am facing the fact that the writing has dried up for the time being and just becoming disciplined again to write something daily, even if it is just a post here might help.
